Tiny, charming, and wonderfully old-fashioned, this antique Haviland Limoges butter pat is a petite 3-inch dish decorated in the delicate Schleiger 228I pattern, with soft pink roses, graceful gray scrollwork, scalloped edges, and touches of warm gold.

Made by Haviland & Co. of Limoges, France, this little piece dates to approximately 1894–1931. Butter pats were small individual dishes traditionally placed at each place setting to hold a portion of butter for the meal - a charming bit of table etiquette from another era.

Today, its uses are limited only by your imagination. Use it for a pat of butter at the breakfast table, a pinch of salt, a few favorite rings, tiny treasures on a bedside table, or simply display it alongside other pieces from this beautiful antique pattern.

At just three inches, it's a little thing, and that's precisely what makes it so lovely.
