Danny's - Framed Photography by Kevin Klima
Photographed by Kevin Klima, this image captures the quiet poetry of a Chicago institution now gone. A black door set against a weathered red facade marks the entrance to Danny’s Tavern at 1951 W. Dickens Avenue, a neighborhood anchor and late-night refuge for nearly 30 years in Bucktown.
Known for its unmarked exterior, eclectic DJ sets, and living-room-like dance floor, Danny’s was the kind of place you had to know to find, and once you did, you never forgot it. The bar closed permanently in 2020, but in this frame, the spirit lingers: the hum of conversations spilling onto the sidewalk, the bassline pulsing behind the door, the warmth of a crowd crammed into a space that felt like home.
This long-gone but never-forgotten drinking institution is now ready for you. Pour one out for Danny's and keep a piece of Bucktown’s soul alive on your wall.
- Printed on premium Kodak Supra Endura lustre paper, each photograph delivers the vivid color of glossy with the soft, fingerprint-resistant finish of matte. Using his signature Photoshop process, which involves adding noise, textures, colorful light leaks, and blurred edges, Kevin Klima transforms each image into a bold, oversaturated, high-contrast work that feels both bright and beautifully gritty.
- 8.3" x 6.3" black MDF wood-grain look frame, HD anti-UV, anti-scratch tempered glass.
About Photographer Kevin Klima
Kevin Klima captures the soul of Chicago with a lens that sees stories in signs, neon, and urban rhythm. His fine art photography, rich with texture and intentionally bold color, focuses on the face of the city: its faded storefronts, glowing marquees, and gritty beauty. Based in Chicago and trained at Northern Illinois University, Kevin’s work isn’t just cityscapes, it’s uncensored visual poetry of the streets we know and love.
