Infused with story and symbolism, this square-format vintage circa 1980s Turkish Kars rug brings bold geometry and delicate detail into perfect harmony. Hand-knotted from wool by skilled Anatolian weavers, it’s a timeless statement for small living spaces, under coffee tables, or as a striking wall piece.

At its heart, a geometric floral medallion blooms over a densely patterned field of minor guls (tribal motifs), scrolled leaf motifs, and symbolic germinating plants—each element echoing themes of life, growth, and resilience. The main border features a meandering vine design dotted with checkered florals and a serpent-like contour—a subtle nod to protection and renewal in Anatolian folklore.

The palette is an artful balance of earthy and vibrant: camel, sand, and beige mix with pops of magenta, dusty mauve, fuchsia, and seafoam green. The result is both grounding and alive, vintage yet fresh.

Areas of exposed knot heads and minor pile wear give the rug beautiful texture and authenticity. Most of the original side cord selvages are intact or restored. Fully secured sides and ends. Multiple areas of expert restoration. For processing purposes, this and other rugs of the type may have painted numbers on the reverse side.
