One of Chicago’s most breathtaking interiors - and one of the city’s most mesmerizing architectural details. This framed photograph captures the iconic Oriel Staircase inside The Rookery Building, the legendary Chicago landmark designed by architects Daniel Burnham and John Wellborn Root and completed in 1888.

Root’s staircase is considered an engineering and artistic masterpiece - an ornate cast-iron structure that winds dramatically from the 12th floor down to the 2nd, projecting outward into the building’s central light court. Known as an “oriel” staircase because it cantilevers from the wall, its intricate repeating ironwork and spiraling form create a view that feels almost hypnotic when seen from above.

While Frank Lloyd Wright later remodeled portions of The Rookery’s light court in 1905 with his signature luminous minimalism, Root’s staircase remained - a striking contrast between ornament and restraint, history and modernity. It’s awe-inspiring in the truest sense of the word. Architectural, sculptural, almost cinematic. Framed, this photograph brings a piece of old Chicago grandeur into the home, layered with history, movement, and extraordinary design.

Framed in a white matt in a 9.5 x 11.5" black frame with high definition glass that can be wall hung or tabletop.
