Johnson Brothers was a British pottery company founded in 1883 in Stoke-on-Trent, England - the heart of the British ceramics world. They became famous for producing durable ironstone and “semi-porcelain” dinnerware that looked elegant like fine china but was tough enough for everyday use. Their wares were hugely popular in both the UK and the United States throughout the 20th century, and they created hundreds of beloved patterns, including Rose Chintz. Over the decades, Johnson Brothers grew into one of the most successful English tableware makers. In 1968 the brand became part of the Wedgwood Group, and production continued in England for many years. In the early 2000s manufacturing shifted overseas, and the company name was eventually retired after 2015 when Fiskars acquired the Wedgwood brands.
