Dark, earthy clay meets soft robin’s egg blue in this striking, wheel-thrown tumbler, crafted from wild foraged materials sourced in Northern California. The rugged clay body—rich in texture and tone—emerges from minimal processing, giving each piece its own natural character. While still wet, the sides are hand-faceted, creating an organic, sculptural profile.

Inspired by the Japanese Chosen Karatsu style, two locally sourced glazes—made from crushed stone and wood ash—are layered onto the surface. Sometimes they flow into one another in a cascading melt, other times they remain distinct, revealing a beautiful tension between movement and stillness. 3.5" tall and holds about 5oz. Hand wash recommended. Microwave safe.

Based in Berkeley, California, Matt Fishman creates ceramics grounded in function, form, and a deep connection to place. A former chef, Matt brings a thoughtful, tactile sensibility to every piece, crafting vessels that are as purposeful as they are beautiful. Drawing inspiration from his Bay Area roots, he sources local clay and glaze materials, refining them through experimentation to produce work that is distinctly Californian in spirit and style.
